On the night of 30 April 2012, a group of concerned residents of Taman Mayang Jaya had organized an impromptu walk-about in the vicinity of SS26/1 – 7 in an effort to promote a community project. The group – led by the TMJRA chairman (Mr. Jeff Chan), and consisting of the TMJRA secretary (Mr. Adrian Tan), and invited guest (Mr. Gary Nair) – started walking from the Vege Delite restaurant at Road 5 at about 11:30 p.m. and finished their walk around the neighbourhood by about 12:30 a.m. (1 hour).
The purpose of this community project, otherwise known as the “Community Policing” project by MBPJ, is twofold: (1) Promote safety in our Taman by getting to know the community living here, and (2) Health Purpose – walking at night as a form of exercise where the weather is cooler and the air much cleaner with less vehicle traffic around.
It is therefore hoped that many more residents would take this opportunity to come forward and participate in this walk, which is intended to be held once a fortnight on either Friday or Saturday night between 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
