Dear Fellow Residents Of Taman Mayang Jaya

We will be having additional patrolling services ( 0700 to 1900 morning till evening ) from 21st January to 28th January 2012 ie during CNY. ( Note : This is in addition to the regular night patrol).

Please note that the Security Committee has taken into the consideration of the safety issue and we have deliberated / agreed that the closing time for all boom-gates will be earlier ie 10pm with the exception of SS 26/19 which will be closed at 10.30 pm. The closing of boom-gates will returned to normal ( mentioned above ) once the CNY period is over (21st to 28th Jan).

This special project is part of the TMJ Security Program and the success of it comes mainly from the efforts of the security committees and the contributions from the security members (RM5 which is a one-off payment).

As for those that have not join this program and can afford, please do join, so that in future we will have more of this festive patrols or better still to have this daily 24 hour patrol as a permanent feature. But at the moment we needed more security members to make up the numbers so that it can be viable.

Also we wish to reiterate, the success of this program depended largely on your cooperation to pay on time.

We wish to say special thanks to the residents who had paid early or on time. To those who have forgotten to pay, kindly make payment immediately to your Road Reps as we needed adequate time to plan ahead.

Finally, the upgrading of safety measures in the recent introduction of CCTV, clearly signifies our efforts to continuously strive for excellence. This is our unceasing commitment, and a well deserved recognition of efforts made by the security committee in this direction.

Thank you

Robbery - New Trick

Don't Know How True - BE CAREFUL ALL THE SAME

Subject: Beware of newspapers lying on the road

READ THIS AND BE AWARE....TAKE CARE !

If you are driving in Malaysia , do take note of the advice below. Avoid driving over newspapers strewn on the road. It would appear that this technique has reached Malaysia from Indonesia .

Life here is getting more like in Indonesia these days. This story which was circulated to me reminds me of the traps set in certain parts of Jakarta by robbers.. Some people have lost their lives over this.

They drive into certain lonely roads in Jakarta to find pieces of wood with nails in them on the road. This causes their tyres to go flat. If they get out of their cars, they are set upon by robbers who will take everything: their cars, wallets, anything valuable and sometimes their lives.

Avoid driving over newspapers strewn on the Road a new trap set by Robbers. This incident happened some where in KL and forwarded to me by a friend..

This person was driving alone at night when he saw newspapers lying around in the middle of the road. Without giving it much thought, he drove pass the stack of papers. No one would expect to find heaps of rocks and stones beneath the papers ! Wanting to know the damage to his car, he stopped to check.

Need I say more? The moment he got out of his car, he was robbed by a group of guys and lost his properties/belongings. Just imagine what would have happen if this had happen to a girl/woman....

UNDERNEATH THE PAPERS, WHO KNOWS, YOU MAY EVEN FIND PIECES OF WOOD WITH NAILS OR SHARP METAL SPLINTERS TO PUNCTURE YOUR TYRES ! MOST IMPORTANT IS YOUR LIFE IS AT STAKE !

So folks, please be careful, do not stop when you're driving alone at night no matter what ! Avoid driving over the papers if you see newspapers lying on the road, this could be a new trick for the desperate fraternity out there...........!!

Residents Must Report Suspicious Activities
Know Your Neighbours, Authorities Advise

WHEN you notice something suspicious happening in your neighbourhood, do not hesitate to call the police.

“If you see someone suspicious or hear strange noises from your neighbour’s house, give us a call and we will send a patrol car to check on it,” said Kelana Jaya police station head C/Insp Saunders Henry during a recent dialogue with Taman Mayang Jaya residents.

Residents’ Association chairman Sunny Yap moderated the dialogue between the police and residents. Henry said that even if police found no wrongdoing, the person who made the call would not be penalised.

Deputy police station head Sjn Mejar Christopher Gerard Rajoo also advised residents to call the direct line to the Petaling Jaya IPD control room at 03-7955 9222 or its bilik gerakan at 03-7966 2222.

“You can also call directly to the Kelana Jaya police station 03-7806 2222,” he said, adding that these numbers would cut down the response time compared to calling the general 999 number.

Taman Mayang Jaya security head Jeff Chan said that it was now more common for burglaries to happen in the morning when people were at work.

“You must know your neighbours so that they can keep a look out for you and call the police if they see something suspicious,” said Chan.

Resident Lim Yau Lee asked if it was possible for the police to send officers patrolling on foot especially near the LRT station because snatch thefts were common when people walk back from the station.

Henry said that they did not currently have officers patrolling on foot but he had asked the LRT’s auxiliary police to help out and extend their patrol outside the station premises.

Former Taman Mayang Jaya RA chairman Liew Wei Beng said that putting up barricades have helped to reduce crime but they need 600 homes to subscribe to the scheme to start day patrolling.

If residents were paying a security company to guard their neighbourhood and there are still frequent break-ins, Christopher said that the police would not hesitate to check on the company.

“We have made checks before. There must be something wrong if there guards are there but houses are still broken into.
“We would do a background check on the guards to see if they have criminal records,” he said.

Police dialogue 24.7.2010

A dialogue with the police from Kelaya Jaya was held on 24th July 2010 at the Balai Taman Mayang Jaya. The event was supposed to start at 8.30pm but being a Malaysian tradition the turn up at 8.30pm was very poor with around 10 person present only. Luckily when the event started 10 or 15 minutes later the turnout was around 40 to 50 person.

The police were represented by the new CI Mr. Saunders Henry and his assistant Sergeant Major Christopher. There were accompanied at the main table by the RA Chairman Mr Sonny Yap, TMY Security Chairman Mr. Chan and representing Magnum was Mr. Liew Wei Beng - our past Chairman. Magnum was the sponsor , it being their CSR event.

Security being an important factor in our lives the questions for the police came fast and furious. The police mentioned they cover a very big area but they are being restricted by having only 3 patrol cars and only 79 personnel while the required number is 120 person. Hence the police expect the residents co-operation by being their eyes and ears and call the police station if they notice any suspicious characters in the neighborhood. The residents were given two important numbers to call. The police mention do not call 999 for emergencies. Call the following numbers:-

03-7955 9222
03-7966 2222

After the Q & A Mr. Liew, representing Magnum, presented a cheque of RM2,000 to Mr. Sonny Yap for the RA's activities. Later all those present were treated to a sumptous buffet supper.
